Contrary to popular opinion, metal sheds are not difficult to assemble.  Many of them are made from aluminum, which means that they are not only strong, but very light as well.  You can actually erect metal sheds without a foundation, and this is a huge saving in both time and cost.  Erecting an aluminum shed does not require any carpentry skills, and that is relief to many of us.

In terms of cost, metal sheds will usually come in at about half the price of comparable wooden sheds.  So if you are on a tight budget, this will be a big factor in your decision making.

Compared to wooden storage sheds, metal sheds do not rot, neither do they split nor warp.  They don’t suffer from damp either.  So in terms of maintenance and longevity, metal sheds are not exactly lacking.

That is not to say that metal sheds don’t have problems of their own.  Steel sheds suffer from rust.  This is a serious problem, but one that can be overcome by using aluminum instead of steel.  Aluminum costs a lot more, but in the long run it works out cheaper.

Metal sheds are not the best looking sheds out there, I admit.  So if appearance is important to you, then you will obviously have to opt for a different material.

There are lots of different metal sheds on the market, that sometimes the number of choices can be somewhat overwhelming.  I can’t really help you in making a choice, I’m afraid, but what I can do is show you two models that appeal to me.

The first one is the Arrow Allington. This is an attractive shed that has floor dimensions of 10 X 12, with a wall height of 62 inches.  It is easy to assemble and has a durable enamel finish.

The Arrow Estator is from the same manufacturer. It has floor dimensions of 10 X 14 with lots of floor room.  It offers loads more storage space than you would expect from its dimensions.
